Mortgage payers, who started a hunger strike in Surgut because of the dropout from program "Affordable housing for young people" in KhMAO, stopped the action on the next day. The decision to end the hunger strike was made after hours of conversation with the District Ombudsman Natalia Strebkova. It was reported on September 6 by the correspondent of "7x7" who watched the broadcast of the conversation.

Activists started a hunger strike because they had gotten in line for participation in program "Affordable housing for young people" a few years ago, taken a mortgage, and planned to pay off part of the debt with the state support. But when one parent turned 36, the family was removed from the list. Activists believe that they were treated unfairly, while the age of "young families" should be changed.

During the negotiations, the Ombudsman Natalia Strebkova told the participants of the action that the hunger strike will not solve the problem, and promised to create a public Council for the protection of housing rights, and through this Council, mortgage payers will be able to try to achieve changes in the family support program. After several hours of discussing the demands with the Ombudsman, the activists decided to end the hunger strike.

Activists of movement Surgut for Children began a termless hunger strike on September 5 at 09:00 local time. The main demand of the protesters was to stop the "anti-social policy of the authorities of the KhMAO towards the participants of housing programs."
