The leader of the LDPR (Liberal Democratic Party of Russia) faction in the Krasnoyarsk Krai Legislative Assembly, Alexander Gliskov, has been taken into custody on suspicion of accepting a bribe. This was reported by the TVK channel on November 2.
The court has placed Krasnoyarsk legislator Alexander Gliskov in pretrial detention for two months. According to the charges, in 2017, Gliskov accepted a bribe from a local administrator to help him retain his position as the head of a government institution. Former road construction company executives, who are currently under investigation, have testified against him.
The legislator has described the charges as "an act of political retaliation" for his performance in the recent Krasnoyarsk governor's elections.
Gliskov says that the police detained him as he was leaving a gym. They searched his home and found nothing, but they confiscated his wife's phone, vehicle documents, and around 136,000 rubles ($1,456) of cash.
Krasnoyarsk media published photos of Gliskov's arrest near a downtown restaurant. LDPR officials called the photos fake, claiming that the car in the pictures and the money on the floor did not belong to Gliskov. The party's leader, Leonid Slutsky, promised to assist if Alexander Gliskov's criminal case is related to his "active performance of his public duties and his advocacy for the needs of his constituents."
Gliskov regularly criticized the Krasnoyarsk authorities. In 2023, he ran in the gubernatorial elections and finished second behind the Kremlin's candidate, Mikhail Kotyukov. The LDPR party has the second-largest representation in the city council. During the elections, Gliskov actively reported on various irregularities, including "carousel" voting, the purchase of votes by United Russia members, and other violations.
