The court has moved Ksenia Fadeyeva, an ex-head of Navalny's headquarters in Tomsk, from house arrest to pre-trial detention. Fadeyeva is under investigation on charges of creating an extremist community and participating in a non-profit organization that encroached upon the citizens’ rights. This was reported on November 13 by city councilor Andrei Fateyev.
Ksenia Fadeyeva, a former head of Navalny's headquarters in Tomsk, had been under restrictions for certain activities since December 2021. However, the court found that she had violated some of the prohibitions, and three weeks ago, Fadeyeva was placed under house arrest.
Prosecutor Andrei Yeryomin found this preventive measure inappropriately soft for the young woman and demanded to place her in a pre-trial detention center. The court has agreed with his request.
"Memorial" recognizes Fadeyeva as a political prisoner. Human rights advocates attribute this status to all supporters of Alexei Navalny charged with creating an "extremist community." According to "Memorial," people in opposition are being persecuted for propaganda purposes and to stop their political activities.
Fadeyeva has been charged with organizing unauthorized rallies, campaigning for Alexei Navalny in the presidential elections, and embezzling public funds collected for his campaign. She is accused of creating an extremist community and participating in a non-profit organization that encroached upon the citizens’ rights.
Fadeyeva started working at Navalny’s headquarters in 2017. In 2020 she was elected to the Tomsk City Duma. She was detained in 2021.
