Nadezhda Suddenok, the ex-general director of the “Zimnyaya Vishnya” shopping mall in Kuzbass, has been released from prison early, reports the media outlet NGS24.ru. Her imprisonment was supposed to last over 13 years.

The former chief executive of the “Zimnyaya Vishnya” shopping mall was released ahead of schedule. It happened a month and a half ago due to a health condition incompatible with imprisonment. In the autumn of 2021, the court sentenced Suddenok to 13 years and 4 months in prison, but ultimately, she only spent 2 years behind bars.

Earlier, former firefighter Sergey Genin was released due to oncology. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison in the “Zimnyaya Vishnya” case.

In 2018, the fire killed 60 people in the “Zimnyaya Vishnya” shopping mall, with over half of the victims being children. They were trapped on the 4th floor that had cinema halls and a children's playroom. Investigators found that the prosecutor's office had prohibited scheduled fire safety checks at the shopping mall for several years.

On November 20, multiple sources reported the passing of Aman Tuleev, the former head of the region who had resigned in the aftermath of the tragedy.
